PUBLICATION DESIGN foR a COLLECTIVE of OUTDOOR BRANDs.

The Maine Outdoor Brands Field Guides are a collection of publications built to bridge the gap between the collective and its members. Throughout these publications, members have the opportunity to learn the ins and out of Maine Outdoor Brands through member testimonials, event invitations, and a complete archive of member resources.

Along with two publications, project deliverables included branded collateral for Maine Outdoor Brands Members including stationary, stickers, social media graphics, and more.

Creative Direction

This project aims to create a visual system for Maine Outdoor Brands that captures the deep passion for adventure, craftsmanship, and nature shared by its members. The design should reflect Maine’s outdoor culture, blending timeless elements with a fresh, modern touch.

Drawing inspiration from Maine’s rugged landscapes and outdoor heritage, the design combines classic aesthetics with a sense of adventure. A halftone Mount Katahdin evokes a vintage, exploratory feel, while other subtle historic elements pays tribute to the state’s outdoor traditions.

The result is a design that feels both authentic and timeless, connecting deeply to Maine’s outdoor spirit, as if every piece were made for someone who loves the outdoors.

MEMBER FIELD GUIDES

Maine Outdoor Brands is a growing community of over 180 members, including iconic names like L.L. Bean, Sugarloaf Mountain, Winterstick Snowboards, and Grain Surfboards. With such strong ties to Maine’s outdoor heritage, it was important to create work that felt true to the state’s long history of adventure, passion, and love of the outdoors.

From the halftone Mt. Katahdin woven into the publication to the Maine Guide silhouette used in stickers and collateral, every detail was chosen to reflect that deep-rooted passion. The result is a design that doesn’t just represent Maine’s outdoor culture, it feels like a natural extension of it.

MEMBER STATIONARY

Creating a personal touch feels obligatory in Maine which is why Maine Outdoor Brands needed stationary for hand-written welcome cards. This system needed to be more brand aligned, which is why it features key elements of Maine Outdoor Brands identity, like their signature topographic underlay.

Along with this set of print collateral, is an envelope for members to exchange stickers with other members within the collective. Once again, finding ways to extend the brand identity slightly all while still maintaining brand standards was important in order to create a strong presence.

MEMBER STICKERS

Maine Outdoor Brands member stickers are a way to highlight a companies commitment to the collective, that are distinct to Maine itself. By utilizing a tree line of pines, or the silhouette of the Maine Guides badge, these stickers look great on a shop door, water bottle, climbing helmet, and more.
